Obituary

William H. Wilkins, 82, of Bedford, died at the VA Medical Center in Bedford on August 23, 2014.

Mr. Wilkins was born in Cambridge and was the son of the late Alton and Mary (Jackson) Wilkins.

He was raised and educated in Somerville and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Wilkins enlisted in the Army in June of 1952 and was honorably discharged in May of 1954.

Following his discharge, he became a member of the Teamsters Local 25. From 1954-1982 he was a truck driver for Brady Brothers, Inc. of Somerville and in 1994 retired from Lechmere in Woburn.

He was a 54-year mason, most recently affiliated with the Frank W. Thompson A.F. & A.M., Masonic Lodge, in Bedford, and he was also an avid Red Sox fan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley M. (Jones) Wilkins in 1992.

Survivors include his sons, David of Bedford and Philip and his wife Holly also of Bedford, his brother, Charles of Maynard, three grandchildren, Katie, Lindsay and Thomas Wilkins and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Christine and brothers, Alton, Herbert and Donald Wilkins.

His funeral service will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 10 A.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wed., Aug. 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Interment will be at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
