William H. Harkins, Jr., 87, of Carlisle, died January 25, 2024, at his home in Carlisle.

He was the son of the late William H. and Anna (Silva) Harkins. He was born and raised in East Boston and took great pride in his East Boston roots.

Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served from 1955-1957. He was a member of the Presidential Honor Guard.

He met the love of his life, Mary English, on a blind date setup by mutual friends and they were married in 1966.

Mr. Harkins worked for many years as an engineer at various tool and die machine shops.

He enjoyed gardening and bird watching in his yard and driving his '62 Corvette. He was an animal lover and loved his three dogs.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (English) Harkins and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., on Tuesday, January 30, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM. Interment will be at Green Cemetery in Carlisle.
