Obituary

William E. Allan, age 77, of Bedford, died peacefully on February 21, with his immediate family at his bedside.  He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara (Kwetz); his loving daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Allan; her husband Matthew Bush; his two cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Bush; and his loving sister, Susan Allan.

Born in New York City, he was raised in Michigan, but found his forever home in Massachusetts, residing in Lexington for 28 years and in Bedford in his later years.  Bill was a graduate of Cranbrook School for Boys in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and received a B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

He was an avid supporter of the Michigan football team, and regardless of the season, was never without his Michigan baseball cap.  He worked for Burroughs, now Unisys, in both sales and as a systems analyst, later pivoting to supporting the computer systems for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. His life centered on being there for his family; gardening; year-round barbecuing; listening to classical music; and, as "Mr. Motor Man," never missing an opportunity to run errands for family and friends or to take the scenic route to any destination.

The family will hold a memorial celebration in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
