Warren Woodford, 83, of Bedford, MA, died peacefully at his home on February 25, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Luella (Chase); his son, Donald Woodford, of Brookline, VT; his daughter, Nancy Woods, and her husband, Louie, of New Middletown, OH; his grandson, Vincent Woods, also of New Middletown, OH; and his sister, Laura Edwards, of Cary, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Woodford, and his sister, Marsha Goodwin.

Warren was born to James and Flora (Card) Woodford on March 3, 1942. He grew up in the Cape Neddick village of York, Maine, and graduated from high school there before earning an Associate's Degree in Architectural Engineering from the Wentworth Institute in Boston. Soon afterward, he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a draftsman for a large engineering and construction firm.

While in California, Warren met Luella Chase of Chesterville, Ohio, through a carpool at the company where they both worked, and they married shortly thereafter. After a couple of years in Los Angeles, they moved to the East Coast and settled in Bedford, MA, where they raised their two children.

Warren spent his career as a structural draftsman—work he truly enjoyed. In the early 1970s, when a colleague founded the structural engineering firm Chapin Associates, Warren joined as Chief Draftsman. He remained with the firm until his retirement.

Woodworking was Warren's lifelong passion, and he found great joy in his workshop. He built cabinetry, furniture, toys, and turned countless bowls and vessels on his lathe. He took particular pleasure in creating hand‑carved and painted wooden birds. For many years, he was an active member of the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society's Woodworkers Guild, which recognized him as a Master Craftsman. His handcrafted creations are treasured by many.

If he wasn't in his workshop or sunroom with a woodworking or carving project, Warren was preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Cooking was another of his passions, one that began while working in restaurant kitchens as a teenager. He especially enjoyed using his outdoor grill, and everyone always looked forward to a "homemade pizza night" at the Woodfords'.

Warren's enduring legacy will be the kindness, generosity, and gentleness he shared with everyone he knew and loved, carried in their hearts always. He will be greatly missed.

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Bedford, Massachusetts. All are welcome to attend.
