Obituary

Thomas Stephen Gaul, 87, of Bedford, died on October 3, 2018.

He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Pearl M. Bourdon Gaul.

Mr. Gaul was born in Pittsfield, MA and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.

After graduation, he worked as an apprentice tool and die maker at General Electric until the outbreak of the Korean Conflict. He then enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Mobile Construction Battalion from 1950 to 1953.

After serving in the Navy, he attended UMass Amherst, where he received his degree in Mathematics, and met his future wife, Lema Brown, also a UMass student. Tom and Lema married in 1964 and moved to Bedford.

Mr. Gaul worked for many years as a computer analyst at Draper Laboratory of Cambridge, MA.

He had many hobbies and interests, the greatest being music. He was able to play many instruments but was most devoted to piano and guitar.

He is survived by his wife Lema, his sons Roger Gaul of Bedford, and Brendan Gaul of Tempe, AZ, daughter-in-law Ayca Darcan, granddaughter Oriona, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Friday, October 12, from 3:00-5:00pm.

A memorial service will be held at Apple Hill Country Club in Leominster, on Thursday, October 18, at 11:00am.
