Thelma (Lassiter) Russell, 90, of Bedford, died on July 29.

She was the daughter of the late Okey and Janie (Harrell) Lassiter.

At the age of 12, she moved from North Carolina to Everett. She was a graduate of Everett High School.

In 1962, she moved to Bedford with her growing family.

She was trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Boston area hospitals and worked for 30 years at the Carleton-Willard in Bedford until her retirement in 1995.

Mrs. Russell was very active in the Bedford community and participated in many organizations including, past President of the Bedford Social Club, Public Ceremonies Committee and CBCB.

She was a longtime member and very active in the First Baptist Church of Bedford. She was a member of the choir and served on the Board of Deacons.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold W. Russell and son, Harold W. Russell, Jr. and her brothers, Stanley and Robert.

She is survived by her sons, Mark and Carl Russell of Bedford, grandchildren, Darrell Fournier and Deborah Russell, great grandson, Izayah Gauntlett and her sister, Beatrice.

Visitation at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, August 4, from 2:00-5:00 PM. A service will precede the visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M.
