Sydney Hanson Mirick, age 7, passed away in the early hours of January 30, due to complications with cancer.  She passed, surrounded by love and in the arms of her parents.

Born with neuroblastoma, she never bemoaned her circumstances. Sydney channeled her feistiness into fighting cancer three times. She was always ready to create worlds with her dollhouse and Legos, play with her brother, cousins and friends and jump into any body of water she could find.

She was a second grader at the Davis School in Bedford, who showered others with her amazing hugs and toothy smile and was in turn adored by her family, friends, doctors, nurses, and anyone else lucky enough to experience her light.  She dreamt of being a scientist and an artist and living in a hotel in the city. Her impact on the lives around her far surpassed her years.

She is survived by her loving parents, Nicholas and Melissa, her brother, Caius, her grandparents Richard & Barbara Hanson of New Berlin, WI, Stephen & Caron Mirick of Princeton, MA, and her aunts and uncles, Kevin Hanson & children Abigail, William and Elizabeth, Adam Mirick & Fabia Yazaki-Mirick, and their daughters Sasha and Alessi, Lisa Hanson, and Scott & Ariannah Mirick, and their daughters Bronwyn and Somerby.

Sydney's parents would especially like to thank the nurses and oncologists and surgeon at Boston Children's Hospital for their care, kindness and support.

Calling hours will be Monday, February 8, from 4pm to 7pm at Bedford Funeral Home, Bedford, MA. Funeral services will be livestreamed at 3pm, on Wednesday, February 10, from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bedford. (See bottom of obituary for livestream information)

For those of you wishing you participate in the funeral service for Sydney Mirick, below you will find the links to the YouTube Webcast and a copy of the Service Leaflet for you to download.  The latter is formatted as an 8.5 x 11 document to make printing easier.

The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday, February 10, and we'll anticipate turning on the Live Stream a few minutes before then. You are welcome to share this link and the leaflet with others who may also want to participate, and the video of the service will remain available to anyone with this link for at least the next week.  We are sorry that we can't welcome you to be present at the church itself, but are glad for the technology that enables us to share in our grieving and giving thanks for Sydney's life.
