Obituary

Subir Mallick has passed away peacefully at home after his short battle with cancer.  Throughout the process he had a positive attitude and always smiled when he saw a friend or a relative.

He was very proud of being at the forefront of technology as a computer engineer. He has worked in various workplaces from Honeywell, when he came to Boston from London in 1969 to Digital Equipment Corporation, Data General, Bell Labs, and several others.  He left India for London in 1965 after finishing his ISC degree from Presidency College and then, graduating from the Bengal Engineering College (BE College) with Electrical Engineering degree and went to University of London for his graduate degree in Computer Science. After that he worked at Honeywell in Glasgow and landed a computer designer job at Honeywell in Framingham, MA and moved to US in 1969 and did another master's degree in Business Management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

As an avid fisherman, he loved spending time on the water. He valued making memories and sharing time with his granddaughter and best friend, Meera.

He was born on August 22, 1943, at his maternal grandparents' home in Ram Kola, Uttar Pradesh to Chobi and Nihar Ranjan Mallick of Agradwip's Mallick Bari. Subir married Krishna (Sen) on December 3 rd , 1970.  They lived in the Boston area for 52 years and were married for 51 years. He was a caring father, son and husband and a very honest person. He is survived by his wife Krishna, son, and daughter-in-law, from Avon, OH, Ron and Bridgette and a six-and-a-half-year-old loving granddaughter, Meera (who Subir fondly called 'my friend').  In India, he is survived by his sister Mukul, nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Thursday, December 23, from 3:00-5:00 PM with a private funeral service to follow at 5:15 PM.
