Steven S. Pierce, 80, died on September 15, 2025, following a long illness.
He was raised in East Chicago, Indiana and was the son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Czmar) Pierce.
Steven attended Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana and continued his education at University of Chicago, where he received his Bachelor's Degree.
In 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1970. Upon his discharge, he moved to Thailand where he began his career in the hospitality industry and met his wife, Gallaya.
In 1975, he was given a job opportunity in the United States that he couldn't pass up. His career in the hospitality industry allowed his family to move around, living in places such as New York, Alaska and Barbados.
In the early 2000's they settled in Massachusetts, most recently in Peabody.
Steven was essential in the plan to build the Boston Buddha Vararam Temple in Bedford. He loved to walk and enjoy nature, learning history and his daily meditation.
He survived by his wife, Gallaya Pierce, his daughter, Allaya Fleischer and her husband Eric of NY, his grandchildren, Laine, Cadence, Max and Astrid and his brother, Mark Pierce of CA.
His memorial service will be held at the Boston Buddha Vararam Temple, 125 North Rd., in Bedford, on Sunday, September 21, 2025 between 10AM-Noon.
