Obituary

Samuel A. Stacchi, 75, of Bedford, died on August 15, 2015, at his Bedford home under the watch of his loving family.

He was born in Arlington on December 9, 1939, the son and youngest child of the late Samuel and Josephine (Marchese) Stacchi. In 1957, Samuel married Loretta McHugh. Throughout their 53 years together, they cultivated and headed a fortunate and blessed family. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (McHugh) Stacchi, their four children, Cheryl Bursaw and her husband, Jeff of Bolton, Anthony Stacchi and his wife, Gale of Portland, OR, Christine Stacchi of Arlington and Michael Stacchi and his wife, Heather, of Groton. Samuel was the brother to three beloved sisters, Marie Fallon, Joan Amico and the late Louise Paragona all of Arlington. He is also survived by five precious grandchildren, Samantha, Kyle, Jameson, Madeleine, and Sabatino and many nieces and nephews.

He was raised in Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1957. Following high school, he joined the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17 and retired in 1994.

Mr. Stacchi had lived in Bedford for the past 43 years. During these decades, he had spent his time not only raising a family, but a barn, a garden-filled, beautiful yard, and a gang of pets ranging from Chelsea, the German shepherd, to Pippen, the raccoon. While his true passion had been toiling over his yard or out in his workplace, as Mr. Fix-it, Samuel enjoyed the simple things like traveling with his wife and children, a good Italian meal, metal detecting on the beach, family gatherings (though with a rather warmhearted reluctance and the occasional wise remark), and a good ballgame on TV.

Sam Stacchi will be remembered as one who was not just the stalwart of his family, but as a generous man – who despite all the hardship he faced in life found a way to make each day a bit more complete, a bit more entertaining, and, certainly, a bit brighter.

It is said that a man is not gone until his name ceases to be spoken. Samuel Stacchi's name will continue to be said for years to come by his family and his friends.

His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Wednesday, August 19, at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael's Church at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 18, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
