Salvatore Barbieri Jr., 77, of Bedford, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his Bedford home on June 22, 2013.
Mr. Barbieri was born in Boston on February 29, 1936, to the late Salvatore and Leonora (Froio) Barbieri.
He was raised in Brighton and lived there until moving to Bedford in 1966.
He was a retired bricklayer and lifelong member of Boston Local 3 Bricklayers Union. He was employed as a curb setter for many years before joining the union.
A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending his time attending the activities and sporting events of his four grandchildren. He also spent his leisure hours fishing, playing cards, swimming, working out and tending his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Jackson) Barbieri, three sons, Mark and his wife, Nancy of Bedford, Paul of Burlington and David of Bedford, his sister, Mary Salvucci of Florida and grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, Paul Steven and Joseph Barbieri and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanora Patterson, brothers, William and Joseph Barbieri and daughter-in-law, Holley Christiansen Barbieri.
His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford, Tues., June 25, at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 A.M. Visitation at the funeral home on Monday, June 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
