Roger A. Johnson, age 88, of Bedford, died on March 17, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of the late Virginia (Mumford) Johnson for 62 years. Father of Michael and his wife Sheila of Chelmsford, Virginia Marfongelli and her husband Michael of Belmont, Douglas and his wife Ellen of Merrimack, New Hampshire. Devoted grandfather of Matthew Gauvin, Timothy Gauvin and his wife Tiffany, Christopher Johnson and his wife Kerry, Patrick Johnson, Allison Macguire and her husband Douglas and David Mazerall. Brother to Edith Dungan of Chelmsford and the late Chester, Alden and Wallace Johnson.

Roger was born in Belmont, Massachusetts. He attended Belmont High School and Franklin Technical Institute.

Roger served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge from the service, he married in 1948, and he and his wife "Gini" built their home in Bedford where they raised their family and were active members of the community and the Lutheran Church of the Savior in Bedford.

He loved to read, garden and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of The Billerica Country Club.

His family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 426 Davis Rd., Bedford, on Thursday, March 20, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
