Obituary

Robert I. Millar Jr., 79, of Bedford, died peacefully at his home on September 23, 2013.

Mr. Millar was born in Mount Kisco, NY on May 19, 1934, and he was the son of the late Robert I. and Lillian (Wilsea) Millar.

He was raised in Brewster, NY and was served in the Coast Guard reserves during the Korean Conflict. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson College and completed his master's degree at Johns Hopkins University.

He began his career working for Bendix Corp. and Westinghouse.
He retired from MITRE Corp. in Bedford after 28 years where he was a consulting engineer.

He was the Secretary of the MITRE Retirees Association for many years. He loved reading about history and visiting many historic landmarks with his family. He also enjoyed coaching youth soccer and outing with his family sailing and canoeing.

Mr. Millar is survived by his wife, Helen (Wiley) Millar; four children, Robert III of Melrose, Douglas of South Portland, ME, Elaine Rowles and her husband, Brian of Acton and Daniel of Bedford and five grandchildren; Nicholas, Jackson, Katherine and Samantha Rowles and Samuel Millar. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Millar.

A memorial service will be held at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 Great Rd., Bedford, on Sat., Sept. 28, at 10 A.M.
