Robert E. Barrett, 81, of Bedford, formerly of Dorchester and Hyde Park, died in Tampa, Florida on April 6, 2016.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late James T. and Anastasia (King) Barrett.

He was a graduate of the Dorchester High School for Boys.
He was employed as a Boston firefighter, and was stationed at Engine 41 until his retirement. He was also a gifted carpenter and cabinetmaker.

Mr. Barrett was the loving father of Megan Dowling and her husband Daniel and Erin Barrett, dear brother of Claire Powell, James T. Barrett, Joan Henelly and Patricia Casey-Price and cherished papa of Aidan, Nora, Brendan and Kate Dowling. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., Bedford on Wednesday, April 13, at 10 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12, from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.
