Robert Avery Brown, of Bedford, passed away peacefully at the age of 92.

Born and raised in Arlington, MA, he was the son of the late Albert and Eva (Avery) Brown. A graduate of Arlington High School in 1951, Bob went on to pursue his passion for the arts at the Leland Powers School in Boston.

In 1953, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving during the Korean Conflict and stationed in Japan, and was promoted to corporal, and was honorably discharged in 1955. Bob opened Tanti Bella Cosa, a charming restaurant in Greenwich Village, NY, in the 1970s. His passion for cooking, he especially loved seafood, would remain a defining trait throughout his life.

Later, Bob worked as a designer at Display Tech, creating eye-catching window displays for New York City department stores. Bob relocated to Youngsville, NY, where he settled on a beautiful working farm and worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 10 years. In 2005, he retired and moved to Bedford to be closer to his family, where he continued to volunteer his time at Bedford TV, sharing his love of the arts with others.

He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and adopted the screen name of Link Douglas, after the Lincoln Douglas Debates. And he was a member of an acting troupe that had the honor of performing at the White House for President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, in the 1960s. His artistic talents were not limited to the stage, Bob was also known for his ability to make even the simplest acts, such as gift wrapping, an artistic expression in its own right.

He is survived by his sister, Lois V. Jenkins of Bedford, his two nephews, David E. Jenkins of Germantown, TN and Paul W. Jenkins of Bedford, his great nephew, Benjamin A. Jenkins of Memphis, TN and his caretaker, turned great friend, Anthony DiPersio.

A graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery, 520 Bedford St., Lexington, on Wednesday, April 23, at 11:00 AM.
