Richard B. Dyer, Master Sergeant, USMC (Retired), age 85 of Bedford, died on February 18, 2017.
He was born in Flushing, New York and was the son of the late Michael and Constance (Harrington) Dyer.
Mr. Dyer retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1969 after proudly serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After his retirement from the USMC, he began his second career at IBM where he worked as an Administrative Support Engineer. He retired from IBM in 1986, after which he coached rifle teams at MIT and Bedford High School.
Mr. Dyer was a long-time Bedford resident, a communicant of St. Michael's Church, and a life member of the Woburn Sportsmen's Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rita (Conlon) Dyer, his daughter, Tara Broskie and her husband Steve of Lake Katrine, NY, his son, Kerry Dyer of Bedford and his two grandsons, Sean and Chris Broskie. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Dyer.
His funeral Mass will be held in St. Michael's Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Friday, February 24, at 9:00 AM, followed by burial at Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford.
