Richard Addiss Jr., 89, of Bedford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 3, 2019.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on May 13, 1929, he was the son of the late Richard Addiss and Evelyn (Platt) Addiss.

Mr. Addiss was raised in Beacon, NY and was a graduate of Beacon High School Class of 1947. Following graduation, he attended RPI and then Cornell University from where he graduated in 1958 with a PHD in physics.

Mr. Addiss worked for RCA of Princeton, NJ, Itek Corp of Lexington, MA and finally, Solar Power Corp of Woburn, MA, where, among other accomplishments, he was responsible for the installation of a photovoltaic solar power array at the Beverly High School in Beverly, MA in 1980. He also served on the IEEE Subcommittee on Photovoltaic Energy Systems.

He lived in Bedford for nearly 53 years.

He was the devoted husband of the late Doris (Bolander) Addiss and loving father of his son, Robert Addiss and his wife Kenechanh.

Visitation at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Sunday, April 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
