Pierrette "Mimi"
E. Samour
Oct 1, 1924 — May 30, 2022
Pierrette "Mimi" (Mettetal) Samour, of Acton, died May 30, 2022.
She was born in 1924 on the Larz Anderson estate in Brookline, Massachusetts, where her father was employed as a chauffeur for the Anderson family. Mimi's childhood was charmed, having access to the beautiful property, gardens, and skating pond on the estate.
She met the love of her life, Carlos Samour, at the International Club in Boston. Carlos was a student at MIT recently emigrating to the US from Palestine. Having spent a year in France as a child, he was fluent in French as was Mimi whose parents were both French.
Mimi and Carlos raised their family in Wellesley, MA then moved to Newport, RI for several years where they purchased a condo within the Seafair estate on Ocean Ave. When the storms became too much, they moved to Bedford, MA to be closer to their children. They traveled to France frequently to visit family and soak up French culture, purchasing an apartment in Paris in 2000.
Mimi had attended Katherine Gibbs secretarial school and was fluent in both English and French shorthand so when Carlos retired to start his own business, MacroChem, Mimi dusted off her secretarial skills and became his administrative assistant. The two were inseparable.
Mimi was an accomplished pianist--Clair de Lune by Debussy being one of her favorite pieces. She was also an accomplished painter, quilter, and seamstress. She loved nature; the fields of lavender and sunflowers in the French countryside, Lilies of the Valley, Violets and Forget Me Nots—she could spot a good mushroom driving down the road.
She was a beautiful, kind, and loving soul, grateful for every day and sharing her gratitude with those fortunate enough to have spent time with her.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Charles Samour and his wife Patt of Beaufort, SC, David Samour and his wife May of Lexington, MA, and Michelle Samour and her husband Steve of North Bennington, VT; three grandchildren who she loved dearly, Maddie, Evan, and Andre Lenox; and the extraordinary caregivers at Benchmark Senior Living at Robbins Brook who loved her until the end.
Services will be private.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest St., Boston, MA 02135.
