Phoebe M. King, of Billerica, and formerly of Bedford, died on October 3, 2018.
Mrs. King, 88, was born and raised in Medford and was the daughter of the late Everett F. and Frances P. (Vobis) Upton.
She attended Medford High School and was married to William L. King on March 28, 1948.
Mrs. King was an artist and a lifetime member of the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society. She began painting with oils and eventually transitioned to watercolor painting, receiving several local awards.
A Bedford resident for 50 years, she loved gardening, cooking and entertaining and was an avid Red Sox fan. Mrs. King enjoyed boating, skiing, skating and traveling with her family and loved cats and birds. In earlier years she attended the First Church of Christ, Congregational.
Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 70 years, William L. King, three children, Ronald King and his wife, Susan of Plymouth, Deborah Lawson and her husband, Stephen of Manchester, NH and Jayne King and her partner, Robin Hudson of Deerfield, NH, two sisters, Sylvia Goodman of Rumford, ME and Susan Von Ins of Goshen, IN, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter, Stephen King, his wife Dawn and their daughter Isabella, Matthew King and Jarrett Corr and his husband, Nolan Haskovec.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Tuesday, October 9, from 4:00-7:00 PM.
A funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 10, at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Shawsheen Cemetery.
