Peter R. Petersen, 74, a lifelong resident of Bedford, died on December 29, 2024, in Concord.

Mr. Petersen was born in Cambridge and was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Dalrymple) Petersen.

He was a member of the Class of 1968 at Bedford High School and during his high school years began working at Purity Supreme.

Following graduation, he began full-time work at Purity where he eventually became the manager of the frozen foods department. He retired in 1980 and went into landscaping operating Petersen Lawn Services for many years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and built his own fly rods. He also played in the men's fast pitch softball league at Page Field in Bedford and closely followed Boston College hockey and football.

He will be remembered for his love for his dog, Duke, who was his best friend in life. The two were staples for many years at their favorite pheasant hunting spot, Bolton Flatts. When he was not hunting, he could be found fly fishing in the Swift River.

Mr. Petersen is survived by his sister, Linda Healey and her children, Michael Healey and his wife Malinda and their children, Soren and Scarlette and his niece, Michelle Healey all of Bedford.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford on Friday, January 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Private burial for family will be at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
