Longtime Bedford resident, Patricia Flynn Towle, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Skowhegan, Maine on January 2, 1933, Patricia was the only child of the late John J. and Esther (Roderick) Flynn. In her early years, the family moved to Brighton, where she graduated from Mt. Alvernia Academy in Chestnut Hill in 1950. Patricia went on to earn her B.A. from Emmanuel College in Boston in 1954, and later earned her Master's degree in biology from Boston College. It was at Boston College that she met her husband, Leo B. Towle, who was from Portland, Maine. They were married on December 28, 1957, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Chestnut Hill on the campus of Boston College. Sadly, Leo passed away in 1989.

Patricia worked at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Boston and later taught biology at Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline. After raising her five children, she joined Instrumentation Laboratory in Lexington, where she worked for several years.

Patricia's devotion to her family was evident in all aspects of her life. She was deeply involved in her children's activities, serving as a member of the Twins Club, a Brownie Leader, a Cub Scout Den Leader, and a 4-H Leader. She also played an integral role in the founding of the CCD program at St. Michael Parish in Bedford. A devout Catholic, Patricia attended daily Mass for many years and lived her faith through acts of service and love.

Patricia was a devoted caregiver, having lovingly cared for her husband during his extended illness as well as many other family members over the years. She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, kindness, and strength. She had a love for animals, especially her cats. In addition to her commitment to family and faith, Patricia was a passionate reader, and an accomplished baker. Some of her favorite creative activities included quilting, needlework, and watercolor painting. She had a deep appreciation of the arts and culture. Patricia was a lifelong learner and teacher.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Leo B. Towle, Jr. and Debra of Westford, Miriam Towle-Lopes and Carl of South Dartmouth, Clare Gallo and Robert of Bridgewater, Gregory Towle and Carol of Dunstable, and Patrick Towle and Joyce of Bedford; eleven grandchildren: Dominic, Justin, Colin, Anthony, Alessandra,  Alyssa, Brooke, Nicholas, Joseph, Bridget, Caroline; and three great-grandchildren: Vincent, Anthony, and Leo.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, January 25, at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Rd., on Friday, January 24, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lexington.

Patricia's life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
