Nina Davis Jackson died peacefully at her home in Bedford, MA, on September 8, 2017 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William J. Jackson, her siblings William, Samuel, Rodman, Gardiner and Hester Davis, and her grandson Parker Jackson. She is survived by her sister Frances Fisher of Chapel Hill, NC.
Nina leaves a large and loving family that includes her three children and their spouses -- Bo and Lauren Jackson of Atlanta, GA, David and Molly Jackson of Dedham, MA, and Kate Jackson and Peter Kent of Falmouth, MA -- grandchildren Emily Ballbach and her husband Graham, Ben Jackson, Sam Jackson and his wife Micki, Pete Jackson, Charlie Jackson, William Rogers and Charlie Rogers, and great grandson George Riker Jackson. They will all miss Nina's adventurous spirit, her youthful outlook, her curiosity, and her creativity.
Nina grew up in New York City and spent summers at Long Pond in Plymouth, MA. She graduated from the Brearley School in New York and from Connecticut College ('53). In her married life with Bill, an historian and career-long educator, Nina was an active member of school life at Belmont Hill School, Phillips Exeter Academy and the Lawrenceville School. She and Bill traveled extensively and made many friends along the way.
Nina loved the outdoors and was an accomplished tennis player, artist and gardener. She brought passion to her activities and became a prolific painter and potter.
There will be a celebration of Nina's life at 2:00 on Saturday, October 28 at The Wildlands Trust Davis-Douglas Farm, 675 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA. A private burial service at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge will follow. Donations may be made in Nina's memory to The Wildlands Trust of Southeastern Massachusetts, 675 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA. 02360 (774-343-5121; www.wildlandstrust.org).
