After 33 years I thought I knew everything about my Dad, in the hours since his passing the amount of people that have shared their stories of my dad and all the great things everyone has said about him was a bit surprising at first. Then I stopped took a deep breath and really thought about my dad and how amazing he was with me and my daughter an I realized it wasn't surprising at all it was my dad being dad. Although he had big rough callused hands if a child handed him a toy phone an said its for you he'd answer it happily. My dad wasn't perfect but if someone needed him no matter what he was there day or night. The last 15 months seeing him everyday has been the best days of my life. Realizing his baby girl was grown up and a bit more like him then he realized was funny to watch. Watching my dad with his granddaughter was heart warning, he was stern but funny and warm at the same time. There's so much I'm going to miss about my dad I couldn't list them all if I tried.
In the upcoming days while thinking about your time with my dad remember the funny stuff, remember to let the people you love know you love them. I'd give anything to have one more big bear hug from him and be able to tell him once more how lucky I am to have had him as my dad and how much I love him.
On behalf of my family thank you so much to everyone who has sent us their support.
