Natalie B. Ives, 79, a longtime Carlisle resident, died peacefully at her home on April 26, 2018.
Natalie was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Doris (Hill) Burghoff.
She was a 1959 graduate of Bay Path Junior College in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where she earned an Associate of Science degree in Secretarial Services.
While working at United Aircraft in 1959, she met the love of her life, David C. Ives, and they were married on March 12, 1960. After living for a few years in Connecticut, Natalie and David moved to Carlisle, where they resided happily for 50 years.
Natalie was employed for many years at Carlisle's Town Hall. She had worked for the town clerk's office, the assessor's office, historical commission and planning board. During the 1990s she was the secretary to the board of selectmen and retired from the position in June of 1999.
In service to her community, she was a volunteer at the Gleason Library, a proofreader for the town newspaper, the Carlisle Mosquito, and assisted the Council on Aging with their monthly luncheons. A longtime member of the First Religious Society, she worked on many committees, projects and fundraisers.
In retirement, she traveled the world with her husband and enjoyed relaxing at their cabin in Vermont. An avid reader, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and hosting the family's annual Thanksgiving dinner.
She is survived by her husband, David, three children and their spouses, Douglas Ives and Tamara of Raynham, Kristin Routhier and Ron of Canterbury, NH, Deborah Svenson and Michael of Mansfield, her sister, Marilyn Herold of Toledo, Ohio, grandchildren, Todd Hirst, Kelsey Ives, and Kyle and Emilie Svenson and her nephew, Brad Herold.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Tuesday, May 1 st , from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
A private funeral service and burial will be held on Wednesday, May 2 nd .
