Myrtle G. Joy of Bedford, MA; 103, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, Billerica. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas H. Joy Sr. for over 56 years.
She was born on March 5, 1914, in Newton, MA, educated in Newton schools and a graduate of Newton High School. She was employed by the Raytheon Co. until her marriage on June 29, 1940.
She and Tom raised 5 children after which she went back to school to become a paralegal. She worked for many years with the Legal Aid Society assisting the elderly with housing, Medicare and other legal needs until her retirement.
She was a dog lover and avid reader. She and Tom loved spending time at their "Camp" on Northwood Lake in Deerfield, NH but especially when joined by her children and grandchildren all of whom she dearly loved.
Daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Terry) Turner, in addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her son Thomas H. Joy Jr. and grandson Adam Joy.
She is survived by her loving sons Stephen Joy and his wife Jean of Palm Bay, FL; Daniel Joy and his wife Linda of the Villages, FL; David Joy and his wife Ellen of Billerica, MA; and her daughter Katherine Joy of Bedford, MA; seven grandchildren, Robert Joy, Lillian Merrick, Alex Joy, Matthew Joy, Kimberly Hill, Alyssa Joy and D. Michael Joy and ten great grandchildren.
