Muriel Joan (Wolloff) Brooks, formerly of Bedford, MA, died on January 12, 2021 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol, MA.

Muriel graduated from Bates College with a degree in mathematics after which she met and married her husband, Richard Brooks. The couple bought a house in Bedford where they lived for over 50 years. Muriel worked for the Mitre Corporation of Bedford, beginning as a programmer and working her way up to head the Mitre software division, a position she held until her retirement in 1997. After her retirement, she spent many years teaching high school math at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Still River, MA where she is remembered fondly by the brothers and sisters and her many students.

Muriel and Richard enjoyed golfing and traveling during their retirement and took many trips to the UK. They also enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Muriel was the beloved wife of the late Richard O. Brooks. She leaves behind her two sons, Matthew and his wife Karen of Hubbardston, MA and Peter Brooks of Lowell, MA. She is the cherished grandmother of Rebecca, Anthony, Sebastian, Phillip, Margaret and the late Angelina and the beloved great grandmother of Juliette Baczek. She is also the caring sister of Carol Maguire of Peabody.

Visitation is at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Sunday, January 17, from 1:00-4:00 PM. Face coverings and social distancing required.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at St. Benedict Center. Burial at Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
