Mingcheng Xu, 56, of Lexington, died on July 18, 2025, after a brief illness.

Mr. Xu was born in Hunan, China and was educated at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. He came to the United States in 1999 for post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

After completing his studies at Berkeley, he worked at Teledyne Isco as Senior Research Scientist at Lincoln Nebraska, focusing on innovative ion exchange columns.

He was a Staff Scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lexington Massachusetts from 2005 to 2014, where significant contributions included the development of chromatography resins and he was currently serving as Director and Consulting Scientist at Waters Corporation in Milford since 2014.

He is survived by his parents Youshun Xu, Ailian Yin, his wife, Juxiang Liu and three children, Rebecca, Conway and Holden Xu.

His funeral service will be held at the Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston, 149 Old Spring St., Lexington on Saturday, July 26, at 9:30 A.M.

Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
