Michael John Olson, Sr.

Michael John Olson, Sr. aka “Dewey” passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Michael was the beloved son of the late John Olson and Johanna Politano Olson. He attended Northeast Vocational School, where he studied culinary arts before answering the call to serve his country.

Michael proudly served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1978 before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served from 1978 to 1987. Following his active-duty service, he continued his commitment to his country by serving in the United States Army National Guard. In total, Michael dedicated 22 years of honorable military service to the United States.

After his military career, Michael worked for many years serving his community as a Constable.

He cherished the time he spent with those he loved. His greatest joy was sharing the stories, memories and experiences of his life with family and friends, leaving them with laughter, wisdom and memories they will forever hold close to their hearts. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved furry grandchildren, whose companionship and unconditional love brought him endless happiness.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Olson and Johanna Politano Olson and brothers Gerald Olson (Dino) and John Olson.

He is survived by his children Michelle Robidoux, Johanna Olson and Michael Olson and siblings Sharon Orchard, husband Robbie, Paul Olson, wife Guinevere, Marie Helka, husband Ed, Susan Aversa, husband James and Robert Olson, wife Chris and grandchildren Leilani, Khalil, Jourdan, Santana, AnnaBelle and Olivia

Military Honor service will be at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery at 83 Stanley Rd, Springvale, ME 04083 on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 12 pm.

He was a proud member of the American Legion, and in lieu of flowers, his family would be deeply grateful for any continued support for our veterans in his memory. Contributions can be made by check or money order to the Charles S. Hatch Post #79, PO Box 977 Berwick, ME 03901.
