Michael Arthur
Alba
Jan 2, 1939 — Apr 12, 2026
BEDFORD
Michael Arthur Alba, 87, of Bedford died peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Paris, France on January 2, 1939, Michael was the eldest son of the late Arturo Alba, MD and Lydia (Gendron) Alba. As a young child, he moved to Guantanamo, Cuba where he was raised alongside his siblings. Michael immigrated to the United States in 1962 and was soon joined by his wife, Yamilé. They settled in Bedford, Massachusetts, in a home he cherished for 50 years. It was there they raised their family and created a lifetime of memories.
Michael was educated at the University of Havana Medical School in Cuba before continuing his studies at Northeastern University in Boston. With a degree in chemistry, he dedicated 25 years of his career to the Upjohn pharmaceutical company. Above all, Michael found his greatest joy in his family, whether spending time at home in Bedford or visiting his siblings and their families in Florida and New Jersey.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Yamilé (Tubau) Alba, his daughters, Lisette Packer and her husband Eric Packer of Wilmington MA, and Caroline Fitzgibbons and her husband Michael Fitzgibbons of Wilmington MA; his brother Arturo Alba of West Palm Beach, FL; and his sister Lydia Diaz of Ridgewood, NJ. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Benjamin Packer, Ryan Packer, Nathaniel Packer, Eric Packer Jr, Gabriella Fitzgibbons, Annette Fitzgibbons, and Maya Fitzgibbons, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to gather for a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, MA, on Tuesday, April 21, at 11:00 am.
Private interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Concord.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Bedford Fire Department for their unwavering support and dedicated service over the past several years.
