Obituary

Matthew P. Kyvelos, 40 of Somerville and formerly of Bedford died on March 16, 2016.

Matthew was born in Stoughton on June 3, 1975, and was the son of Peter S. and Virginia S. (Dodakian) Kyvelos of Bedford.

Matthew was raised in Bedford and was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1993. He earned his Degree in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1998.

He was employed as a laboratory technician for Precision Prosthetics in Lexington and most recently at New England Orthodontic Laboratory in Wilmington.

Matthew was an artist with a tremendous and enviable talent. Printmaking and sculpture became his passion after an inspiring study-abroad experience in Italy. Matthew's ear for entertaining music was perpetually tuned-in, and his vast collection of cds all vied for his attention, proudly lining his walls more naturally than paint or paper. Recently, Matthew was living a childhood wish of owning and learning to play an Oud made by his father. He played his pride louder than any cd in his collection. When Matthew engaged in conversation, with loved ones and strangers alike, it was as if he would rather be no other place in the world. The "Uncle Matt" magnet was a powerful force, taking over at every family function where little cousins were present and ready to play. The giggles were endless, the fun was unstoppable, and the joy of those moments enveloped Matthew. He arrived in a suit, hair slicked and styled, for the birth of his first nephew. Matthew wanted to make sure that he set the first impression bar at its highest position. Matthew made room in his heart for all.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, Mon., March 21, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be held at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, 465 Mount Auburn St., Watertown, on Tues., March 22, at 11:00 A.M.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Stephanie Lindgren and her husband John of Groveland, his brother, Nicholas Kyvelos and his wife Carli of Arlington and his nephew, Theodore Kyvelos. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Saint James Armenian Apostolic Church, 465 Mount Auburn St., Watertown, MA 02472.
