Mary Jane McLaughlin, 80, of Bedford, formerly of Cambridge, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2016.
She was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on September 22, 1935, and she was the daughter of the late Everett Alan and Margaret (Burr) Walker.
She was raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge High School '53.
Mrs. McLaughlin had resided in Bedford over 50 years. In earlier years she was involved with many services and charitable organizations in the Bedford area. She enjoyed preparing food and gift baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for those who needed a help. She was very active with organizing and participating in many yearly fundraising events (New Years Eve, BEANO & BINGO notes, Theme dance - Hawaiian night) for the Marist Fathers. In harmony she would organize the Policemen and Firemen Balls held at the Marist Fathers Field House. She was also a home health aide for countless years serving families. She was the activity director at Llewsac Lodge at the Carleton-Willard Village and a member of the Bedford Social Club.
She was the loving mother of Alfred F. McLaughlin of Bedford, Michael P. McLaughlin and his wife Leeanne of Chelmsford and Janine M. McLaughlin-Ackerman and her husband Gary G. Ackerman of Westford. Dear sister of Richard Walker of Bedford. She was the devoted grandmother of Lillian, Bailey, Devin, Hunter, Kelly, Patrick, Joseph and Shannon McLaughlin and Garrett Mack Ackerman. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred L. McLaughlin, sister, Barbara Duffy and brother Paul Walker
Her funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford on Friday, May 27, at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Irene Church, 181 East St., Carlisle, at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 26, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Shawsheen Cemetery.
