Mary Ellen Mazzola, 85, of Waltham, died peacefully on August 31, 2022.

She was born and raised in Cambridge and the only child of the late Edward and Helen (O'Hearn) Hyland.

She attended Mount Trinity Academy in Watertown and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in education from Boston College.

Following her schooling, she met and married Domenic Mazzola in June of 1957. When Dom was in the Navy, they briefly lived in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where their daughter Susan was born, and they eventually settled in Belmont to raise their family.

After raising her children, Mary Ellen obtained her real estate license.  She and Dom worked as team, he would work on the construction of a house and once it was completed, Mary Ellen would sell it.

Later in life, Mary Ellen and Dom enjoyed travelling the world together, visiting multiple countries and continents, from Egypt, to China and Italy, but their favorite place to travel was to Disney World. She created an extensive collection of  Disney memorabilia and enjoyed gathering other collectibles.

Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family.

She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Domenic A. Mazzola, her daughter, Susan J. Ganz and son, Edward Mazzola.

She is survived by her son, Domenic E. Mazzola and his wife Mary O'Toole of Concord, her son-in-law, Bryan Ganz, her grandchildren, Emily Mazzola and her husband Alex Castrichini, Domenic J. and James Mazzola, Sarah Fessler and her husband Stephen, Kathryn Moriarty and her husband John ("B.J.") and Madeline Ganz and her great grandchildren, Henry, Georgiana, Margot, Jack and Cameron.

Funeral services will be private.
