Mary Anne Dwyer, 77, of Lexington died on May 2, 2014, in Wayland.

Mrs. Dwyer was born in Boston on November 1, 1936, and she was the daughter of the late William E. and Frances (Hanrihan) O'Connor.

She was raised in Jamaica Plain and lived in Watertown before making Lexington her home in 1966.

She was a graduate of Regis College where she earned her degree in mathematics.

For the past several years she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a customer service representative. In earlier years, she owned a communications company in the health care industry.

An avid swimmer, she loved spending time during the summer months swimming with her children and grandchildren along the shores of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. She will be remembered by Lexington residents for her nightly walks through the town center where she stopped to talk with shop owners and friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a longtime member of St. Brigid Parish.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John C. "Jack" Dwyer, four children, Dr. J. Michael Dwyer and his wife Dr. Sandra Noriega of Corpus Christi, TX, David Dwyer of San Francisco, CA, Suzanne Rahall and husband Bill of Townsend and Kate Thompson and husband Rene of Ashland, brothers and sisters, John and James O'Connor, Eileen McMorran, Francie Goffredo, William O'Connor and grandchildren Lucas, Andrea, Camilla, Kendra, Nick, Vanessa and Kianna. She is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and very special family friend, Ruthann McCarthy. She was predeceased by her brother Tom O'Connor.

Her funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, Wed., May 7, at 10 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Brigid Church, 2001 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington, at 11 A.M. Visitation at the funeral home on Tues., May 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Interment will be private.
