Dr. Mark Xavier Triscott, 63, of Belmont, MA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening, December 30 ^th , from complications due to a sudden onset illness which took him much too soon.

Mark was born in Melbourne, Australia on March 2, 1954. He enjoyed his Australian upbringing and all that goes along with life Down Under, from Rutile mining on Stradbroke Island to an undefeated season with the Nudgee College 1 ^st XV Rugby Team. He earned his Bachelor of Science with first class honours from The University of Queensland ultimately earning his Doctorate in Microbiology. He first came to the U.S. in 1982 to begin his illustrious career at Wake Forest's Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. More importantly this is where he met Ann, the love of his life and the reason he never left. His career continued and flourished due to his intelligence, passion, and commitment to his work. There were many steps on his ladder, including roles in St. Louis MO, Raleigh NC, Orangeburg NY and ultimately earned the position of VP of Research and Development at Instrumentation Laboratory in Bedford MA. He led the Research and Development efforts for over 50 FDA 510K cleared and commercialized assays. His work has been featured in over 20 peer reviewed publications such as Thrombosis Research, Anesthesiology, and the Journal of Biological Chemistry. He authored and contributed to over 75 published abstracts as well as authoring 3 patents in US and Foreign filings for Hemostasis Assays including Fibrinolytic and Thrombin based reagents. He was highly respected but maintained a humble spirit. He was dearly loved, throughout the community and well beyond our borders. The advances from his work will continue to impact lives long after he is gone.

Mark enjoyed life to the fullest as the ultimate loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His passions were many and included world travel, golf, music, fast cars, New Orleans, and its beloved Saints to name a few. He was a proud dad to his two sons, Mathew and Shane, and was truly devoted as their teacher, mentor, life coach, cheerleader, and friend.

Mark is survived by his wife, Ann (Knox), of 31 years and his son and best mate, Shane, and five Australian siblings- Paul, Mary (Rob) Corrie, Elizabeth (Lynda) Davidson, Madeleine (Craig) Witherspoon and Adrian Triscott. He has aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews of whom are too many to name. He is predeceased by his beloved son, Mathew Ian, his father James Anthony and mother Honora (Nano) Triscott of Brisbane Australia.

He left a huge imprint on this earth- too big of a void to properly fill and will be sorrowfully missed by his family, his wide circle of friends, and peers from around the globe.

A private service will be held. Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Saturday, January 6, from 2:00-5:00 PM.
