Lois N. Rose, 86, a longtime Bedford resident, died on February 5, 2015, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Mrs. Rose was born and raised in Worcester and was the daughter of the late Frank and Anastasia (Richmond) Zagunis.

Mrs. Rose was a graduate of Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse prior to raising her family and in later years returned to nursing, specializing in private homecare.

In 1952 she was married to the late Jack Rose at the Belmont Street Baptist Church. They were married for 35 years until his death in 1987.

Mrs. Rose lived in Bedford since 1961, where she was a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational. A devout Christian, she was an active member of the church, serving as a deacon, BAFTA President and was involved in numerous other committees and organizations.

She was also a volunteer at the Emerson Hospital in Concord and served the town of Bedford during elections working at the polls.

Mrs. Rose will be remembered as a generous and kind soul, for her love of North Truro and her second family there and the hard candy she passed out freely on the beach.

She was the loving mother of Claudia Rose-Muir and her husband Steven Muir of Coatesville, PA and Bradley Rose of Chelmsford. Beloved grandmother of Melissa Muir, Jack, Emma and Katelyn Rose. Dear sister of Leo Zagunis of Lake Oswego, OR and the late George, Frank, Bernice Hamer and special aunt to Alan Hamer and his wife, Jeannine and their children, Eric and Sarah.

Visitation will be on Fri., Feb. 13, from 9:30-11 A.M. and immediately followed by funeral service at 11AM, at The First Church of Christ, Congregational, 25 The Great Rd., Bedford.
