Laurence J. "Packy" Packenham, 59, of Bedford, died on April 15, 2015.
Mr. Packenham was born in Newton on July 30, 1955, and was the son of the late John and Mary (Maroney) Packenham and brother of the late Richard Packenham.
He was raised in Newton and was a graduate of St. Sebastian's School in Needham, Class of 1973. Following his graduation, he continued his education at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his BA in English in 1977. He then completed his J.D. at Suffolk University in 1980 and his MBA in Finance at Boston College in 1985.
Known as "Packy" or "Larry" to family and friends, he began his career in banking at Shawmut Bank and was currently in real estate banking as a senior vice president at Boston Private Bank and Trust Company.
A Bedford resident since 1994, he was active in youth sports as a coach for baseball, football and lacrosse. He was an avid golfer and Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed spending time during the summer at the family home at Bass River in South Yarmouth.
He is survived by his loving wife, Meg Clancy, and devoted son, Patrick Packenham of Bedford, five adoring sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Mon. April 20, at 8:00 AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sun., April 19, from 1:00-5:00 PM.
