Laura (Avedisian) Nabedian, age 96, of Bedford, MA died August 29, 2026. 

Laura was born in New York City on May 9, 1930 to Hampar & Esther Avedisian, who had left their homeland due to the Armenian Genocide. She grew up in Manhattan with her two brothers, and loved taking her little brother, Bob, to the Saturday matinee. Although always an excellent student, Laura opted not to go to college because, in the 1940’s, young women needed to choose between nursing and teaching which were too limited for her and instead entered the workforce.

Laura and her husband, Albert relocated to Massachusetts in 1950, at first settling in Watertown. They moved to Lexington in 1956, where they would reside for the next 50 years, raising three children, before moving to Bedford in 2005.

Laura was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young but re-entered the workforce volunteering at her childrens’ elementary school when her youngest was in third grade. She then kept the books for Temple Isaiah in Lexington, before being hired away by a member of the Temple to do the books for Lexington Furniture. Her eye for color and design, as well as her outgoing personality, was recognized by a sales rep for the store, who suggested that the owner put her on the sales floor. She had finally found the perfect career, which allowed her to flex her creative muscle and build relationships with her design clients, many of whom returned repeatedly to work with her and referred their friends and family. She thrived in this role, and continued in it into her 80’s.

Laura was smart, sophisticated, cultured and strong-willed – a force of nature. She loved books, music, movies and theater. Her favorite hobby was shopping, and she excelled at it. She had impeccable taste and style and was always put together and dressed perfectly for any occasion.

Laura and Al loved to travel, first with friends and then with their children and grandchildren; and loved to entertain people at their home. Most summer Sundays you would find their backyard in Lexington filled with close friends and family enjoying a pool party.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Albert Nabedian, her parents and her two brothers, Jack Avedisian and Robert Avian. She is survived by her children, Gary Nabedian of Bedford, MA; Andrea (Richard) Coan of Naples, FL and Scituate, MA; and Roger (Megan Gorman) Nabedian of Corona Del Mar, CA; and grandchildren Melanie and Troy Coan of Scituate, MA.

There will be a private interment at Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
