Kevin Barry Strel, 73 of Leominster, Massachusetts passed away on September 12, 2023, at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veteran Hospital following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Kevin was born and raised in New York City, New York, and lived in Spanish Harlem until he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army and served during the height of the Vietnam War in the 2nd division, 1st Infantry, with the 9th Regiment. After being honorably discharged at Fort Devens he settled down in Leominster, Massachusetts where he would later find his wife.

He will be remembered as a wonderful and passionate man who loved his family deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him at any cost. Kevin was an advocate for Multiple Sclerosis assisting in passing state legislation to ensure there was health insurance coverage for those battling MS.

He was the beloved husband of Janet (Berthet) Strel, cherished father of Florencia Arocena and her Emily Fernandez Strel, Juan Pablo, and Diego Decuadro, and the loving grandfather of Sebastian and father-in-law to Gaston Arocena, Ingry Rodriguez and Cathy Diaz. As a passionate dog lover, Kevin also considered his husky, Chase, as another son, all who will miss him dearly.

Private funeral services were held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
