Kenneth Gordon Skinner of Concord, MA, formerly of Bedford, MA, On July 5, 2026 at the age of 97 peacefully passed to eternal life, with family by his side.

Ken was born in Newburyport, MA and grew up in Arlington, MA. Upon graduating from Arlington High School, he received his undergraduate degree from Fitchburg State College, and went on to teach in Connecticut. His first job was to teach Grades 4-6, all subjects, in one classroom. He received a Masters Degree from University of Connecticut. He later taught in the Junior and Senior High Schools in Manchester, CT, before moving up to Bedford and taking the position of Library Media Specialist at the Lexington High School. He served in the US Army from 1951-1964, ending his career as a Captain.

Ken enjoyed many hobbies: being with family, gardening, gathering maple syrup in the spring, square and round dancing, photography, reading books, playing various card games and Mexican Train, learning about computers, going camping, and participating in the Lion’s club, among many others. He had been president of both the Manchester, CT and Lexington, MA Lion’s Clubs, as well as president of the Minuteman Chapter #56 Camping Club.

He enjoyed his independent living at Newbury Court from 2018 to the beginning of January of this year. He had a goal to be the oldest known Skinner on record in the family, and he achieved it!

His family is very grateful for the staff at Newbury Court and Rivercrest for the wonderful care and support he received while there.

His wife Shirley predeceased him, after 63 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Skinner, and his siblings E. Patricia Anderson, Elizabeth P. Harvey, and Ralph Skinner. He leaves behind his daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Harrington and her husband James, Debra (Debi) Towle and her husband Leo, his grandsons David Harrington (Erin), Michael Harrington (Ariana), Stephen Harrington (Amanda), and three great-grandchildren: Madison, Liliana and Edwin.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 25th, at the Duvall Chapel at Newbury Court, 80 Deaconess Road, Concord. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
