God took Kathleen Home Again on July 9 th , 2018 after a long battle with cancer while in the company of her family.
She was born in Morristown, NJ to Frank and Sally (Thelin) Powers. The only girl of 5 siblings, Kathleen followed in her mother's footsteps as a nurse and moved to Boston, MA in 1968. She first worked at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, followed by stints working at St. Margaret's, St. Elizabeth's, Lahey Hospital and finished her career at Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley. Caring for others was a staple of Kathleen's personal and professional life.
She is survived by her husband, G. Robert MacDonald, her three children and their spouses, Kevin, Brian and Mary, Kristen (MacDonald) and Kevin Piendak, her grandchildren Torin, Megan, Ronan and Caitlin as well as her siblings John Powers, Gary Powers, Michael Powers and their spouses. Kathleen also had many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen and G. Robert were married on July 4 th , 1970 and recently celebrated their 48 th wedding anniversary.
From 1984 through 2016 Kathleen both worked and volunteered numerous hours at the Elizabeth Seton Residence and Marillac Residence. Alongside her husband they held various social events on a monthly basis for the nuns residing there as a way of giving back and reaffirming their steadfast faith in God.
Kathleen was a longtime parishioner at St. Michael's in Bedford, MA and served as a catechist and extraordinary minister.
She was preceded to God by her parents and her loving brother Stephen.
Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Friday, July 13, from 4:00-8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at Mt. St. Vincent, 125 Oakland St., Wellesley Hills, on Saturday, July 14, from 9:30-10:15 AM with a prayer service at 10:15 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:45 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters of Charity, Mt. St. Vincent Community, 125 Oakland St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
