Joseph A. Marcotte, 95, of Bedford, died November 6, 2024.

Joe was born and raised in Lowell and was the son of the late Albert and Antoinette (Ferron) Marcotte. Upon the death of his father when he was 6 years old, he was placed in St. Peter's Orphanage until he was 13 years old.

Following his graduation from Lowell High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. The enlistment was for three years but was extended for a year due to the outbreak of the Korean Conflict. He served from 1948-1952 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant.

With the money he received from GI Bill, he enrolled in college, first attending Worcester Polytechnical Institute for two years and finished his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from UMass Amherst.

A year after graduating, he married Eunice Lindstrom. He and Eunice were married for 58 years until her death in 2017.

He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Marcotte.

He is survived by his cousins, Janet Martin and Patricia Cobleigh and many other extended family members.

His funeral service will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd., Bedford, on Monday, November 18, at 10:00 AM.
