Joseph P. Crimmins, 73, of Bedford died on March 7, 2022, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Joseph was the son of the late Peter J. and Evelyn A. (Zirpolo) Crimmins and brother of the late Nancy Crimmins.
He was born in Cambridge in 1948 and lived there until 1953 when the family moved to Bedford.
Joseph was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1967, and following high school he attended Middlesex Community College for two years.
He had worked for Digital Equipment Corp. for several years before becoming a school bus driver with Bedford Charter Service in 2002. He drove buses in Bedford during the morning and afternoon hours and then transported students to various afternoon sporting events, driving often late into the evening.
He frequently arrived to work on his bicycle and had a wonderful relationship with his co-workers because of his kindness and sense of humor.
He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially his cats Casey and Smokey and his dogs Josie and Pepe, and for his big heart and kindness to special friends and the needy he met.
He is survived by his sister Ginger Doucette and her husband Buz of Wells, Maine, his nieces and nephew, Loren and Derron Doucette and Ashley Struth, his cousin, Carole Judge, grandnieces and grandnephews, Jackson and Chase Doucette and Evie and Andie Struth and his close friend, Paula Bonczar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, on Tuesday, March 22, at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
