John R. Sylva, 67, formerly of Bedford, MA and Somerville, MA, passed away on November 4, 2015, at his home in Freedom, NH.

The son of Margaret and the late Joseph Sylva, he is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter and her husband, Lindsay and Matthew Hay, his son and his wife, Bradley and Christina Sylva and his son, Jeffrey Sylva. He is also survived by his grandsons, Gavin, Jonah and Brendan Hay. In addition, he leaves his mother Margaret and his brothers and their wives, Joseph and Patricia Sylva, William and Rose-Marie Sylva and Robert and Deborah Sylva. He also leaves his former wife, Anita Cahill, and numerous nieces, nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren.

Mr. Sylva spent his career in financial services having worked for the former Bay Bank for 25 years. He also worked as a consultant with the former Strategic Designworks of Reading, MA. He attended Matignon High School of Cambridge, MA (1966), Boston College (1970) and Suffolk University for his MBA (1974).

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Road, Bedford, MA on Sunday, November 8, from 2-6pm. A mass of Christian burial will be said at 9am at St. Michael's Church, 90 Concord Road, Bedford, MA on Monday, November 9, 2015. Interment will be at a future date.
