Obituary

Dr. John E. Japp, well-loved physician and longtime resident of Carlisle, died March 11, 2016.

Born in Stratford, Connecticut, Dr. Japp attended Stratford High School. While president of the student body there, he organized a drive for the students to help in the war effort by selling war bonds. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946 and then attended first, Tufts college, as an undergraduate, and then, Tufts Medical School, from which he graduated in 1954.

Dr. Japp practiced medicine in Bedford in his private office and at the Emerson Hospital in Concord for over 40 yrs.

In 2011, he and his wife, Norma, were named "Outstanding Citizens of Carlisle" as part of Carlisle's Homecoming Celebration for their decades of service to their community.

He is remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his love of skiing and baseball, and his devotion to his family and his patients.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Norma G. (Puffer) Japp, in May of 2015.
