John J. Barrett, 59, of Bedford, died suddenly on July 1, 2013, at the Emerson Hospital in Concord.
John was born in Boston on May 22, 1954, the son of the late Robert and Ann (Phillips) Barrett.
He was raised in Lexington and was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 1972.
He earned his business degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1976.
John was employed by Ryder Truck Rental & Leasing as an account manager. He was currently working at the Stoneham branch, but had worked in Auburn and Manchester, NH earlier in his thirty-five year career.
John had lived in Bedford since 1984, and was a former resident of Nashua, New Hampshire. He was a member of Saint Michael parish and a member of the Knight of Columbus, Lexington Council 94.
He enjoyed the beach and spending time at his second home in Marshfield, as well as sailing and fishing with friends and family.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen (Ambrose) Barrett, loving children, Brendan of Somerville and Bridget of Arlington, Virginia, sisters, Eileen Barrett of North Reading and Deirdre Barrett of Danvers, his brother, Brian of Waltham, father-in-law, Benjamin Ambrose of Lexington, and brothers and sisters-in law, Stephen and Ann Ambrose of Malden, Mary and Chuck White of Groton and Chris and Kathy Ambrose of Reading. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, July 5, at 8:00 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St., Michael Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford, at 9:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 4, from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M.
Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
