Joanna (Doob) Nickerson, 79, of Bedford, died on October 18, 2022.

She was born in Elizabethton, TN on July 21, 1943, to the late Hugo Doob, jr. and Hilda (Smith).

Mrs. Nickerson was employed by the Town of Bedford from 1980-2009. She worked in administration and retired as the Assistant Town Manager. Prior to working in Bedford, she was employed by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and as a fundraiser for the New England Conservatory Alumni Office.

She lived in Bedford for over 40 years and was a former resident of Boston, Somerville, and Arlington.

Mrs. Nickerson was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bedford. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the church choir, vestry, search committee and memorial garden committee.

She was the wife of Rev. Dr. Bruce E. Nickerson, mother of Elizabeth Ellison (Kendall) of Phoenix, AZ, stepmother of Rebecca Johnson (Ernie) of Wallkill, NY, Robert (Karrie) of Suffolk, VA, Jonathan of Cambridge, sister of David Doob of Westborough and Katharine Sakenfeld of Skillman, NJ, sister-in-law of Lorna Olson of Washington, IA, grandmother of Nicole, Terina, Jennifer and Ethan, great grandmother of Vincenzo and Cataleya. The love between Joanna and Barbara Nickerson, mother of the stepchildren, was to all a sign of God's grace. Predeceased by her stepson, Timothy Nickerson.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 100 Pine Hill Rd., Bedford, Saturday, November 5, at 10:30 A.M.
