Janet L. Sullivan, 82, of Woburn and formerly of Stoneham, died on May 20, 2020 of COVID-19.

She was born and raised in Malden and was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Mary A. (McMurrer) Hughes.

Janet was a graduate of Girls Catholic in Malden and was a member of the Class of 1955. She then enrolled in the Malden Hospital School of Nursing and earned her diploma in 1958.

Her love of nursing began at an early age when she worked as a candy striper at Malden Hospital. Following her graduation from the school of nursing she worked at several local hospitals through the years. She retired from Mystic Valley Elder Services in the early 2000's.

Janet along with her husband Dick raised their family in Stoneham where she was a member of St. Patrick Parish. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, and watching sunsets. Janet will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard J. "Dick" Sullivan in 2017 and sisters, Marie Mayne and Joan Conway. She is survived by her daughter, Marie "Terry" Baca of Woburn, her sister Helen Quinn of Woburn and grandson, Lucas "Luke" Baca.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, on Saturday, May 20, at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
