Jane E. Garland of Bedford died on January 18, 2026, following a brief illness.

Jane was born in Arlington, Mass. on August 2, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Earl W. and Mabel D. (Crooks) Garland and sister of the late David F. Garland.

She was raised in Bedford and was a member of the Class of 1965 at Bedford High School. Following high school, she attended Northeastern University where she received a degree in business.

Jane was employed by Hewlett-Packard as a payroll administrator for over 25 years and continued employment with the company through the spin-off and acquisitions by Agilent Technologies and Phillips Medical Systems. At the time of her retirement she was in the marketing division.

She enjoyed the several years she spent living on Cape Cod.

She loved her cats and enjoyed going to the theatre and dining out at local restaurants. In recent years she devoted many hours to genealogy. Her research led her to find family ties back to early settlers in Massachusetts. She traveled to New Hampshire cemeteries to locate family monuments and document her family history.

Private services were held. She was buried alongside her parents in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
