Bauckman
Nov 19, 1929 — Aug 18, 2017
Jane Lee Bauckman (87) passed away on August 18 th , 2017 following a long struggle with Parkinson's. Born 11/19/1929 in Minnesota, Jane Lee Bartels was one of 4 children. Her parents Dr. Elmer Bartels and his wife Dorothy moved to Newton, MA where she grew up.
Jane Lee became a physical education instructor and following college married her childhood classmate Richard C. Bauckman. They moved to Needham and raised 3 children.
Jane Lee belonged to the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church in Needham where she taught nursery school, sang in the choir and was a member of the bell ringers group.
She was a troop leader for the Camp Fire Girls and with her incredible warm smile and big heart was often found devoting her time volunteering wherever needed. She enjoyed the tight bond she had with her family, her flower gardens, baking and creating her prize winning quilts.
After losing her husband from cancer at 63, she had to fight her own battle with cancer. As a cancer survivor she went on to live her life to its fullest, traveling, white water rafting and hiking the Bitterroot Mountains.
Predeceased by her brother Elmer Bartels, she leaves her sisters Dorothy Denault and Patricia Hastings, her son Richard Bauckman, and daughters Sandy Gauld and Nancy Lee Paradis. She also leaves grandchildren Brandon and Carissa Strick, Leighton Paradis, Emmalee Bauckman and Dorothy Ayers.
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her courage, kindness and strong faith. She was an inspiration to us all.
