J. Marie Kurys, 91, of Lincoln and formerly of Lexington and Bedford, died April 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Salem and was the daughter of the late J. Andrew and Juliette (Cashman) Foisy.

Marie attended St. Chretienne Academy in Salem and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College in 1954. She was proud to have graduated from the challenging 5-year program that was offered by Boston College at that time.

For a short period of time, she worked at Salem Hospital and then taught medical surgical nursing courses at Beverly Hospital. She met Chester Kurys in 1958 and they were married on July 16, 1960.

In 1964, they moved to Lexington to raise their family. When her children grew up, she went back to work as a social worker at the East Village Nursing Home in Lexington for 18 years.

Marie and Chet moved to Bedford in 2008 and then to The Commons in Lincoln in 2018.

She was an avid reader, loved spending summers at the family home at Lake Winnisquam in Laconia, NH, and enjoyed travelling in Europe and around the U.S. Above all, she was devoted to her husband, children and grandchild.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chester J. Kurys, her beloved children, Daniel Kurys and his wife Tina of Brookline and Susan Kurys of Hopkinton and her cherished granddaughter, Julia Kurys Degan and her husband Connor Degan of Hopkinton.

Visitation will be held at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 Great Rd, Bedford, on Wednesday, April 26, from 2:00-4:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Rd., Lincoln, on Thursday, April 27, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
